An unlikely pairing turned business mind-trust: a Pennsylvanian boudoir photographer and a Maryland-based tattoo artist. Together we’ve elevated client experiences and shattered the glass ceiling that comes with being women-owned businesses.
Celebrating three remarkable years of craftsmanship, Foxwood Tattoo Collective stands as a haven for delicate black and grey tattoos, spiritual and intuitive artistry, and profound healing experiences, nestled in Eldersburg, Maryland. At its helm is Casey Hart, a seasoned tattoo artist and the visionary owner, whose passion extends beyond skin-deep artistry.
I had the honor of enlisting Casey to ‘go-to-town’ on my leg, as I was in such awe over her work and I wanted to see what she could do for me as a walking blank canvas. We are about half way complete on my full leg sleeve, and absolutely everything was meticulously planned, yet freestyled, with so much more left to really let her creativity shine. (Yes, that’s Casey’s work on my leg, down below!)
Casey is one of those people where the minute you are in her space, she is electric. I don’t know how else to describe it other than walking into a totally welcoming and uplifting bubble. All worries fall to the wayside, and it’s just a positive process from start to finish. Her client experience is unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of before, which is why I am always ITCHING to get back into her chair.
Not only is she a magical human, she is one who has had to rise to the top in a mostly male-dominated field, and is thriving! She’s an inspiration to me and I always enjoy talking-shop with her. Although we have different art mediums, the idea is the same; create a lasting experience for our clients, one in which is not only powerful, but meaningful.
A Conversation with Casey Hart
So tell me a little bit about what you do and what you offer?
“I’m a tattoo artist and business owner of a beautiful studio called Foxwood Tattoo Collective in Eldersburg, Maryland. I’m known for delicate black and grey tattoos, along with spiritual or intuitive tattooing, and I’m [also] a sound bowl healer. I am certified in reiki and mindfulness and spend a lot of time holding space for others.”
Why did you get started?
“I began tattooing in 2012 while I was a young student in college for being an art teacher. I saw tattooing as a way to create art in my life while working for myself and I listened strongly to my intuition that it would eventually be a sustainable career. It has absolutely blown any expectation out of the water. I have been tattooing for nearly 12 years, Foxwood is on year 3, and I have been into intuitive work for 2. I love tattooing because it allows me to connect and hold space for people, while creating a unique experience that is profound and enlightening.”
What is your favorite thing to do at work?
“The best part of my day is when the client goes to the mirror [after] the tattoo is complete. Their reaction is worth every minute of the creative process and I love the confidence they have leaving after working with [me]. There is no better feeling than exceeding [their] expectations.”

It isn’t every day that you find a boudoir photographer and tattoo artist as client’s of each other’s work, let alone turned great friends. So what’s the scoop? It all started because Casey made her way to the Pennsylvania boudoir studio location after reaching out. It’s a rare discovery to encounter someone whose passion for what we do rivals our own, but she exemplifies that exception. I’ll let her tell the story:
How did you first hear of Déjà Revél?
“[You] reached out to me through having mutual clients, and my jaw dropped when I saw your work. I honestly thought it was all too good to be true, but I had the honor of working with you and taking home many of the beautiful products, and there’s hardly a week that goes by that I don’t have a conversation surrounding your work. I’ve actually done many [boudoir shoots] with all kinds of photographers, and the efficiency and integrity of [your] work is unlike any other. I also am in love with the dark/moody vibes, along with all the back booty lovin’ shots!”
So why do you think it is that our businesses work well together?
“We both embrace body confidence—a controlled but surrendering experience with a trusted stranger to capture your essence and message—all through vulnerability and some uncomfortable moments but that are guaranteed to ignite a burst of unshakable confidence and a no-fuss-given attitude that carries them through life. Creating a business that can mutually & beautifully capture each other’s work is one that can’t be bought.”
